The Loofa / Washcloth Hybrid

A few months ago while browsing through articles on Into the Gloss, I came across one entitled 'Leave Your Loofa For A Salux Washcloth'. Personally, I've always been left a bit dissatisfied by my loofas. I always seem to destroy them by pressing too hard in an attempt to really scrub at my skin and exfoliate. When I read about the Salux cloth I was intrigued and decided to pick up a 3-pack from Amazon to try. And boy am I glad I did.

5 Reasons The Lorac Pro Palette is Still a Must-Have

The Lorac Pro palette is one of those cult beauty items that was so popular when it released that it was almost impossible to get your hands on. It's been raved about so much in the past, but as time has gone by and new palettes have been released, the chatter and praise has seemed to die down a bit. Today I'm here to remind us all why, even with an endless stream of new and exciting collaborations and flashy palettes releasing weekly, the Lorac Pro palette is still a must-have in your collection.

Recent Makeup Loves

Despite my unplanned blogging hiatus over the past few months, this beauty addict definitely didn't stop playing with makeup. In fact, I've come across several things recently that I've become a bit addicted to. These are things that I've consistently, without fail, put on my face day in and day out because they just work so damn well for me.

A Gentler Cleanser For Sponges & Brushes

A few months ago I finally decided to splash out on an original beautyblender to see what all the fuss was about. At $20 it's much more than I ever expected to pay for a makeup sponge (though I did pick it up with a discount code) but I was left with a greater concern. Mainly, how to clean my beautyblender and other makeup sponges without destroying them in the process. Enter the blendercleanser solid.

The Beauty Lover Tag

I've been on a bit of an unplanned hiatus for the last few weeks but I'm finally back and ready to jump back on that beauty / romance horse. I thought a nice way to ease back into things would be with a little questionnaire about my love of beauty. It's the Beauty Lover Tag!

Monthly Beauty Favorites | February 2016

Between my Frugal February spending ban and trying to use up as many products in my arsenal as possible, February was an interesting month. I rediscovered a few products I wasn't originally too wowed by and fell in love with some newbies I recently got as well. Here's what I've been loving lately.

Tried & Tested: Maybelline Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons

Cream eyeshadows are probably my favorite formula to work with because they're just a breeze to apply. I'm all about a lazy, dab-on-and-go eye look. Eyeshadow crayons are even easier to apply because you don't have to dip your fingers into the product, risking getting some stuck under your nail, and you can apply straight from the pencil. They're also inherently easier to travel with and apply on the go. But I don't want to digress too much into the many virtues of eyeshadow crayons because what I'm really here to talk about is Maybelline's new Color Tattoo Concentrated Crayons!

Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Color

If you've seen some of my previous nail polish reviews you'll know that I'm a big fan of products that deliver a gel nail effect. Yes, a real salon gel manicure lasts for ages, but they can be pricey, UV-lights aren't very good for your skin and sitting through the application of coat after coat of polish can be tedious as hell. Not to mention the awful removal process. I like being able to just slap on a color and top coat at home, without any fancy lights, and getting shiny, long-wearing color in just a few minutes. Well, Wet n Wild recently came out with 1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Colors that further simplify the process. I've put the shade Peri-wink-le of an Eye - a lovely cornflower blue - to the test to see if it really gets you that gel look in just a few brushstrokes.

Weekend Vibes: Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that people either absolutely despise or can't get enough of. I'm one of those rare people who's pretty much just meh on the whole thing. I'm single, so it's not like I'm expected to get anyone a gift or do anything romantic, but I thought I'd fill you all in on how I'm spending today - in the most satisfying way I possibly can.

Monthly Beauty Favorites | January 2016

It's crazy to believe we're already over a month into 2016! January brought with it several new favorite beauty products which I couldn't get enough of. Let's take a look at what I've been loving lately.

WILD AT HEART (Healing Harts #4) by T.J. Kline

Sometimes the place you’re trying to run from is exactly where your heart needs to be…

Bailey Hart has never felt like she measures up to her cousins at Heart Fire Ranch. It doesn’t help that her rocker attitude has made her a black sheep in her small town. So when her band gets their big break in Los Angeles, “Wild Hart” can’t run fast enough…If only there weren’t so many reasons to stay.

After a harrowing stint in the Oakland Police Department, sheriff’s deputy Chase McKee has returned home a hero, and yet he feels anything but. And when he finds out Bailey might be leaving for good, the feelings he’s always harbored for his best friend’s cousin just won’t stay hidden. He knows she wants to get the heck out of Dodge, but he’s hoping to show her where she really belongs—with him.

Will this Wild Hart turn her back on love, or will she realize her heart really belongs closer to home?

L'Oreal Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadows

Last month when I saw that L'Oreal had released new Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadows I snatched them up right away. Well, not right away. I saw them at my local Rite Aid during lunch one day, decided to hold off on buying them, went back to work and then proceeded to think about them and how I should have bought them for the next couple of hours. Let's just say I might have run back to the drugstore right after work, fearing that the four colors I had wanted would be long gone. I've been using them off and on for the last several weeks and I've got to say these single eyeshadows are impressive.

Frugal February & Project Use It Up

Between quite a few hauls, some impulse purchases and a ton of holiday beauty gifts, I've racked up quite a bit of makeup in the last couple of months. My makeup drawers are overflowing, my skincare shelves are packed and my beauty cup runneth over. In an attempt to make a dent in my collection and curb my spending, I've decided to institute a month long beauty spending ban which I'm calling 'Frugal February'.

Reflecting & De-stressing with Tarot

Sometimes when I'm feeling especially lost or out of touch with myself I like to pull out my tarot cards and reflect. I got my first deck of tarot cards when I was in Junior High and loved going around doing readings for my friends and family. If I remember correctly, a lot of my readings back then involved the questions 'Does my crush like me back'? I wouldn't say that I think tarot cards "predict the future" (although I have used them to ask yes or no questions) but I like to read tarot to take a pause and really think about my behaviors and tendencies and what I want to achieve. When I'm feeling particularly overwhelmed I find doing a reading can help me feel more optimistic and focused.

A Korean Skincare Haul & Review

In the last couple of years I feel like Korean beauty products have taken the western beauty world by storm. Between bb creams, cc creams and the growing popularity of sheet masks, Korean skincare innovations have slowly but surely made their way to the US, not only with western brands producing their own versions, but with Korean brands being carried in stores like Sephora, Urban Outfitters and even Target. I've been getting more and more into K-Dramas in the last few months and one thing I've definitely noticed about Korean women through is that they really take pride in their skin and work at having the clearest, most even-toned, glowing skin. The Korean beauty ideal is very much about youthful, plump skin and their skincare products really reflect that. I've always struggled with oily, blemish-prone skin, so the ideal of glowing, even skin is one I've always strived to attain. With this is mind, I decided to place an order from Memebox, which carries tons of Korean beauty products, to see what Korean skincare products could do for my skin.

New In: The Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen that I recently did a little drugstore makeup haul and picked up some of the new products that have come out for 2016. There's a TON of new stuff out and one of the things that caught my eye was the Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment in 05 Repairing Primrose. I had seen photos of this on social media and thought it seemed like a drugstore version of the high-end tinted lip oils that came out last year. Suffice it to say I got swept up in the hype and when I spotted it at Walgreen's I dropped it in my basket.

Recent Beauty Favorites

It seems that I'm not very good at sticking to the traditional 'Monthly Favorites' post format. Almost every month my posts seem to go up further and further into the next month and at this point calling a post 'December' anything is really just an embarrassment. Sigh. So, to save face and take into account that some of these things didn't really come into my life until the holidays, I'm calling this a 'Recent Favorites' post. Either way, these are the beauty products that have been rocking my socks as of late.

What I Bought From The LUSH Boxing Day Sale

Every year LUSH has a buy one get one free sale on all holiday items the day after Christmas. Last year I found out about the sale too late and all the good stuff was already sold out, but this year I strategically planned my attack and woke up on Boxing Day with a list of bath bombs to add to my cart. My order finally arrived this weekend (all the way from Canada) so I thought I'd show you all my loot.

Release Day Review: HOLD ME UNTIL FOREVER by Christina Phillips

She's the only one he wants...and the one he can never have…

Ella Clark has been in love with Alex Grayson forever. She’s tired of being invisible—or worse, being treated like his kid sister. If she can just get him to drop his iron-fisted control for two seconds, she’ll prove she knows exactly how to blow his mind.

Alex has been fighting his attraction to Ella since her should-have-been-innocent sweet sixteen kiss burned down his world. He's damaged, and there's no way he'll ever drag her into his screwed up life. Until she offers him something he's always craved—steamy, no-strings sex inside his exclusive BDSM club. Where she'll be safe from the darkness that haunts him.

Except there's nothing safe about being with Ella, and the more she gives, the harder it is to let her go. If he stays, he risks everything, but how can he walk away from the only woman he's ever needed?

The Unconventional Drugstore Primer: Nivea Men Post Shave Balm

There's been a lot of chatter in the beauty blogger world in the last few months surrounding the Nivea Men Cooling Post Shave Balm thanks to Nikkie from NikkieTutorials. A few months ago she randomly decided to borrow her boyfriend's shave balm after running out of primer and it made her makeup stay intact all day long! Since then I've heard several bloggers talk about this balm and how amazing it is as a primer and how much it helped keep their face from getting shiny throughout the day. I have frustratingly oily skin, so anything that is said to keep skin from getting shiny and lock makeup in place all day has me intrigued. Add to that the fact that you get 3.3 oz of product for just around $6 and I couldn't help adding a bottle to my recent Target order. I've been using this baby for the last few weeks and MY MIND IS BLOWN.
