Monthly Beauty Favorites | January 2015

The first month of the year is officially over and boy, did it go by quickly. For me, January was a month filled with testing lots of new beauty products (well, new to me). Every morning was a chance to test out a new product and I definitely developed some new obsessions. But for the most part, this month's favorites are a collection of products that I reviewed in depth this month. Here's a rundown of what I've been loving.

MAKEUP
I've been trying to switch up my makeup routine a bit this month since my normal Covergirl foundation has been caking on dry spots caused by the cold. Although it's usually advertised as being geared towards oily skin, my Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation isn't really matte enough for my skin in the summer months and ends up looking too greasy. For this reason, I thought I'd give it a try in the winter, and the creamy, thick formula works much better for me in the drier months. It's really more like medium coverage but when paired with my Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer I get a look that's smooth and even and lasts all through my work day.

I also had a makeup revelation in the form of the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I've long been a die hard fan of the Real Techniques Buffing Brush and have refused to apply my foundation with anything else for the past 2 years. But somehow the Expert Face Brush tops even that! The more tapered shape allows you to get into tight corners around your nose and eyes while the full, dense bristles let you buff in your foundation seamlessly. It even gives you more coverage than the Buffing Brush and has pretty much replaced it in my heart.

On my cheeks and lips I've been loving the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil in Everlasting Honey. You can read my full review here but it's a beautiful, moisturizing product that gives my lips the most natural-looking pink color. To contour my cheeks and add some warmth to my skin I've been loving The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. I wrote a full review on it recently because it's really the perfect bronzer for pale skin and it's so natural looking - never orange.

SKINCARE
For Christmas I received an Estée Lauder gift set from my aunt with some makeup and some miniature skincare goodies. I thought I'd try out some of the skincare products in an effort to normalize my crazy winter skin and I found two products that I've been relying on. For the day I've been using the Estée Lauder DayWear Creme, a thick, pale green cream with a light cucumber scent, to moisturize and eliminate the odd dry patch. At night I've been dabbing on the Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II and have noticed that my skin looks smoother and more even (though it does look a little greasy when I first wake up).

BODY

I wrote a full review earlier this month on LUSH's Rose Jam Shower Gel but suffice it to say it has the perfect, fresh rose scent that's in no way geriatric. It has a thick consistency and a tiny bit gives you tons of suds. I'm absolutely in love with it, and since it was a limited-edition holiday treat, I'm going to be really upset when I run out.

Lastly, Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 has been my favorite fragrance since I bought it a few months ago but for some reason I always forget to slip it into my month favorites. It's a sexier, deeper scent than what I usually like but I now pretty much refuse to wear anything else. It's a very hyped product in the beauty world but it's understandable as it's incredibly addictive. If you want to know a bit more about the fragrance I've did a full review a few months ago.

What products have you been loving this month? Did you get anything for Christmas that has changed your beauty routine?
