My Bronzer Collection

It's summertime, when everyone wants to look a bit bronzed and glowy. Since I usually try to avoid being out in the sun, I like to slap on some bronzer to give a touch of warmth to my pale skin and try to create that sun-kissed look. I've received quite a few from subscription boxes and friends, apart from the ones I've actually purchased for myself, so I've somehow amassed quite a variety. Here are all the bronzers I have in my arsenal.

Clockwise:

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
One of my darker, more pigmented matte bronzers. I don't get much use out of it because I feel like it can look a bit muddy on me. Smells deliciously of chocolate.

Pixi Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched
A newer addition to my collection. Has a touch of shimmer but nothing that's extremely noticeable when blended- just a bit of a glowing effect. This color is perfect for really pale skin. I love to use this for a natural bronzing effect where the sun would usually hit my skin.

Nars Bronzer in Laguna
A cult favorite bronzer. Bronze with a mix of gold shimmer. I have a tiny sample size that a friend gave me which is perfect for travel. Great for a warmer, summertime contour (despite the shimmer).

Bourjois Bronzing Primer
This is a liquidy cream bronzer that can be used either as a primer or as a bronzer. I rarely use this because it's very warm-toned and takes an extremely light hand and lots of blending to apply well.

Benefit Hoola Matte Bronzer
I depotted this bronzer from a Benefit gift set I received from a subscription box. It's not too dark, perfectly matte, and one of my absolute favorite bronzers to use.

Smashbox Step-by-Step Contour Kit Bronzer
A nice, matte, medium bronze shade that I like to mix with the contour color in the palette when I want to warm things up a bit.

The Body Shop Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder in 01
Another fantastic shade for pale skinned gals. It's matte and not too warm, so it can be used as a contour color for light skin but it still gives you a bit of a sun-touched look. I like using this to contour in the winter or all over my face in the summer.

Model Co Pressed Bronzing Powder in Bronze Shimmer
This was given to me by a friend and I had never actually used it before swatching it for this post. It's very shimmery, semi-sheer and one of the warmer bronzers in my collection. I almost want to break this out as a eye-shadow.

Physician's Formula City Glow Daily Defense Bronzer in New York
The newest bronzer in my collection, which I actually won through a Facebook giveaway. It features two bronzing shades with a matte/satin finish. The gold, glittery skyline is just an over-spray which I brushed off to keep from contaminating the actual bronzer color. It's a very light honey color but beautiful on my skin when used all over to warm up my face. Added bonus that it has SPF30! The packaging is pretty big and bulky but I'm pleasantly surprised with the color.

Here are some swatches so you can get an idea of how they compare to each other:

I think my favorite, most used bronzers in my collection are probably the Benefit Hoola Bronzer and The Body Shop Honey Bronzer. I tend to lean more towards matte face powders but a touch of shimmer can be nice from time to time. What bronzer is your favorite to use in the summertime? Have you tried any of the ones above? Thoughts?

  1. I bought my first bronzer ever this summer and love the color it adds in the summertime. Right now I'm using (and loving) Tarte's Park Ave Princess Matte but I've heard great things about Nars bronzers and Hoola. Benefit products are so fun!

    1. I actually just got a sample of the Park Ave Princess bronzer in my July Ipsy bag. The Hoola bronzer is probably my absolute favorite Benefit product! They do have adorable packaging but some of their face products actually break me out (not the bronzer, though).
