Bliss has known Stephan Perth, Earl of Duldon her entire life and has wanted him for as long as she can remember. But having learned at a young age that we sometimes lose those we love and that trusting others with your heart can leave you vulnerable, Bliss refuses to marry Stephan. As much as she is enticed by the way he watches her and the dark promise in his eyes, Bliss refuses to open herself up to the possibility of loving and losing him.
Stephan has been waiting for Bliss to be ready for him for years. He's always known that she was the wife for him, even if he didn't expect to be able to share his darker, more dominant side with her. The desire is clear in her eyes but she continues to push him away, claiming she wants a marriage with someone she can trust. How better to earn her trust than by helping her explore her sexuality and allowing her to experience all those dark fantasies that have been playing through her mind?
I truly adored both of the main characters! Bliss is a curious and strong woman who has spent her whole childhood being let down by those who she loved and needed most. She struggles with a vein of fear that keeps her from trusting Stephan with her heart. I really connected with her character and loved that the author didn't try to tidily sweep up her worries in one fell swoop. Bliss is a work in progress and her feelings for Stephan and the love and desire he shows her everyday help her overcome her fears bit by bit.
Stephan is an amazingly understanding hero who knows what he wants and is willing to compromise and work with Bliss to get her to a place of acceptance. Though he is a dominant lover and likes to be in control, he constantly reminds Bliss that she always has the power to choose. He gives her a safe environment to explore her fantasies and test her boundaries. His seduction and his control were hot but his understanding and reassurance made him all the hotter.
The chemistry between Stephan and Bliss is amazing. There is such a wealth of eroticism and sensuality in the novel that infuses every touch and every kiss. That slow build, which begins through curiosity and voyeurism grows to an inferno. There were so many diverse and creative sex scenes that really allowed the characters to explore all the stages of their relationship and their desires.
Bound By Bliss is the first novel I've read by Lavinia Kent but I loved the way she wrote her characters and her erotic scenes so much that I can't wait to start in on the rest of the series. If you're looking for a sexy as sin read with a bit of a BDSM bite and a regency setting, then this is the novel for you.
