If there's one
thing I love, it's a good cream shadow. The kind of product you can
just slap on, blend out with your fingers and be done with. Because
as much as I love a smoky eye featuring five precisely placed and
meticulously blended powder shadows, that's just not the kind of
thing I have the time or energy to achieve every day. On a typical morning I just want something that will enhance my eyes – quickly
but effectively – and look like I put in a little bit of effort.
Enter the L'Oreal Infallible Paints Eye Shadow.
The shadow features
a double-ended wand with a different shade on each side. They are
meant to be worn alone or layered to create a customized look.
BzzAgent sent me the shade 'Cool Ivory' to test and review and I think
it's a great duo for someone who wants to just add a little pop to
their lids but doesn't want anything too bold. One end of the wand
features a shimmering white shade, while the other side is a pale
nude. The shadows are both creamy and blend easily, while still
maintaining a good level of opacity. I was really pleasantly
surprised by the pigmentation and the almost metallic shimmer of
these shadows.
In terms of
application, I like to swipe the wand onto my lid, patting the color
in with my finger and then blending out the edges with a fluffy
brush. This is how I typically apply my cream shadows. Unfortunately
these shadows didn't hold up well on my unprimed, oily lids. They
creased horribly! I decided to give these shadows another chance and
tried layering them over my MAC Paint Pot in 'Groundwork' (my go-to
everyday cream shadow that works great as a primer for other shadows)
and the effect was beautiful. The shimmering ivory shade completely
transformed the look of the matte medium brown to something that was
a bit more feminine and less...basic. And with the added layer underneath acting as a primer, this L'Oreal duo wore really well.
If you're looking
for an easy to apply, dab-and-go cream shadow from the drugstore
that'll elevate your basic, everyday look without breaking the bank,
then look no further. These shimmering duos are surprisingly
pigmented and will make you feel a bit more put together with minimal
effort. I just wish they had more neutral shades (bronze, gold, warm
browns) included in the collection.
Are you a fan of
cream shadows? Got any favorites? I'm always open to recommendations.
