Donna McIntyre is a sassy, clever young woman who is just trying to clean up her life and win custody of her young son. She has always had to fight her own battles so she's completely thrown for a loop when Mike Solo, the Kilby Catfish's gorgeous charmer of a catcher, stands up for her. There's been some serious heat brewing between these two ever since they met and when Donna needs to improve her reputation to win back her son, Mike steps in with an offer of marriage.
This isn't your typical 'fake fiance' romance as what Mike's planning is an honest to goodness wedding. Much like the passion these two are experiencing, the emotions are completely genuine. And boy is there quite a bit of passion! I wasn't expecting for Mike to be so bossy and deliciously dirty, but it totally worked. I can honestly tell you that despite his history with vows of celibacy during baseball season, the nickname 'Priest' is completely undeserved. These two blow up like firecrackers when they get in a room (or broom closet) together. And oh, do these two really know how to light up a closet.
Though the novel packs some serious heat, there's also tons of humor and teasing to really make you fall head over heels for these characters. Donna is such a caring and hardworking mother and she's willing to give up so much of herself to make sure her son has the best childhood possible. Going off of her character in the first book in the series and in the very beginning of CAUGHT BY YOU, you never would have guessed that she was a mother with this whole secret past. Mike's past also came as a bit of a surprise as he usually comes off as such a cock-sure charmer. I honestly couldn't get enough of these two together. They were playful, passionate and unpredictable.
If you love athletic heroes with a heart of gold and a filthy mouth, CAUGHT BY YOU is a novel you need to pick up. Extra points for a super sassy heroine you can really admire. I don't even particularly like sports romances but this series really gets it right. Jennifer Bernard hits another home run with this addition to the 'Love Between the Bases' series. I can't wait to see who's next on the roster.
