Derma E: A Brand That Truly Delivers

Derma e is one of those brands that doesn't have much hype surrounding it in the beauty world but always impresses me with their products. I've tried several of their exfoliating products through subscription boxes in the past and have been very pleasantly surprised. After receiving a 20% off coupon code for their website last month I decided to scope out their product range and found some items that really intrigued me. I've given them all a thorough trial run and was even more pleasantly surprised by the results! Here's what I got and what I thought.

Scalp Relief Shampoo & Conditioner
The first products to catch my eye were this shampoo and conditioner. I've always struggled with a dry, itchy scalp which typically worsens in the colder months so I'm always willing to test out products designed with irritated scalps in mind. At $11.75 per tube this shampoo and conditioner were definitely more than I typically like to spend but because of my struggles with finding products to relieve my scalp and my great track record with derma e I decided to take a chance. And it really paid off!

The shampoo is meant to be massaged into the scalp and left on for a few minutes to really penetrate before rinsing. These minutes actually feel really relaxing as your scalp begins to tingle in a very soothing way. After rinsing I applied the conditioner, which I almost didn't buy because I thought it wouldn't actually do much for my scalp. Boy, was I wrong! It's actually my favorite product of the two. The conditioner is very smooth and creamy and when you let it sit in your hair for a few minutes as directed, your scalp starts to feel cool and refreshed because of the menthol in the product. It's like Icy Hot for your scalp, which might sound a bit weird but is the most incredibly soothing experience my hair has ever had. The cooling effect only intensifies as you rinse the conditioner out and not only is your scalp left refreshed but your hair is soft and smooth. I didn't expect products that are targeted for the scalp to actually leave the rest of my hair feeling soft and manageable but they absolutely did and I can't emphasize how impressed I am with these products.

Hydrating Eye Creme with Hyaluronic Acid
Since my previous eye cream had just run out I thought I'd give one of theirs a try. I settled on the Hydrating Eye Cream because I wanted something to really moisturize in the cooler months and I'm all for preventing any signs of aging around my eyes. My biggest concern with my under eyes is usually dark circles and after consistent use for a few weeks I feel like my dark circles are much less visible when I wake up in the mornings. The cream is really hydrating, non-greasy and lightweight. The precise tip of the applicator also ensures that you don't waste product by squeezing out too much and the packaging is very travel-friendly. A no-fuss product that actually does what it says!

Scar Gel
I had actually seen some amazing reviews of this product on Instagram regarding its ability to diminish acne scars which heavily influenced this purchase. The derma e Scar Gel is a clear, jello-looking product that is "clinically proven to significantly improve scar texture, color and overall appearance". The product applies like an invisible, wet gel which feels lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. I've been applying it nightly on my face and every morning when I wake up I feel like my skin looks clearer and brighter. I don't notice those residual red marks from old blemishes nearly as much and I feel like my skin just looks better. I have tried it on some small scars on my arms from cat scratches and the fading doesn't seem as pronounced (maybe because they are white marks) but for acne scars and red marks this stuff is aces. If you suffer from acne scarring I really can't recommend this stuff enough!

Exfoliating Mask with Fruit Enzymes
This was the last product I chose to pick up, mostly because I love trying new masks and it was on sale for just under $7 before applying the coupon code. Typically I go for more purifying clay and charcoal based masks in an effort to clear out my congested pores but I figured why not give this a try. The texture is thick but smoother and a bit creamier than most of the clay masks I'm used to. It has a greyish-green color, a faint pineapple scent, and applies onto the skin really well. It's the perfect balance of wet and dry, really. When I washed the mask off I was actually a bit shocked by how much smaller my pores looked and my lack of visible blackheads which I'm always plagued with. My skin looked brighter and clearer and my pores really did seem purified. Plus, unlike with most clay masks my skin didn't feel like all the moisture had been sucked from it. I've tried so many masks in the past few months from varying price ranges and this really did top them all.

I was already a fan of derma e before this haul but by trying more of their products and experiencing what their brand is all about I've absolutely fallen in love. Derma e prides themselves on being a natural skincare brand that harnesses the power of vitamins, antioxidants and botanicals to truly improve the condition of their customers' skin. Unlike many beauty companies that try to brand themselves as natural and vegan, derma e doesn't try to garner attention with flashy packaging or celebrity endorsements. Their packaging is unassuming and they don't seem to be trying to market themselves as natural solely to gain more sales. Somehow, in a beauty world that's full of high claims and even higher price tags, this brand that started in health food stores in California is creating products that genuinely do what they claim to on the label. And people's skin is improving as a result! At least I know mine is.

In terms of price point, derma e falls in the higher drugstore realm, with most products falling under $30 (though a few anti-aging products cost a bit more). Apart from their website you can find their products at health food stores, drugstores like CVS and Walgreens, and at Ulta where they often have great discounts. Though their products might cost a bit more than some other drugstore brands, I'd say it's absolutely worth it. Their results top even high end brands that I've tried and you can trust that you're using something with natural ingredients to boot. Honestly, derma e deserves so much more love and recognition then they receive because they really are one of the beauty world's best kept secrets. After trying more of their products and seeing how they actually worked for me, I just feel like I can trust them with my skin. I'd like to make it clear that this post is in no way sponsored and that I bought these products with my own money. These products truly did just exceed my expectations and I wanted to share my great discovery with you all. If you want products that will really deliver the results that are claimed on the label, then derma e is the brand for you.

Have you tried any of their products? Did they work well for you? Any recommendations?
