MY THOUGHTS
Desire Me Now is the first book I've ever read by Tiffany Clare and I really enjoyed it. It's a wonderful combination of historical and erotic romance that ticks so many of my boxes. Nick is the kind of rakish hero who has the whole world at his fingertips. He's mysterious, protective and seductive with a wonderfully dirty moutheverything I really look for in a romance hero. The only thing that detracted from his appeal for me was that, from the very moment Amelia falls into his path, he is constantly telling her that she is his and that they will inevitably end up in bed together because he always gets what he wants. Normally I find confidence and a bit of possessiveness sexy but in this case it just seemed like too much.

It was a little ridiculous to me that a man would say that to someone who he knows just fled from a handsy employer who tried to force himself on her. Even though there's obviously a mutual attraction between them, the vulnerable state she is in and her complete reliance on Nick for a place to stay, medical assistance and employment makes it seem like he is forcing her into a similar situation. Of course, consent is of the utmost importance to him and as much as he says he always gets what he wants, he's not the kind of man who takes what isn't offered. The other thing that bothered me was that Amelia and Nick have sex for the first time after a night out drinking where she downs 3 glasses of absinthe in quick succession. She is definitely a bit out of it and although she is sure that she wants him and had been willing to give herself to him on a previous evening, the inebriated hook up just rubbed me the wrong way.

Though Nick is assuredly the more dominant figure in their relationship, he is willing to hand over control to Amelia and always gives her the power to choose for herself. His kind and giving nature is really endearing and helps balance out his commanding nature. Although Amelia is a tad unsure of herself and her desires, she is no push over. I really admire the way she stands up for herself, both verbally and physically. Amelia and Nick have such a great connection and it was great to see their bond shift and grow throughout the novel.

I didn't realize Desire Me Now was the beginning of a series surrounding Amelia and Nick until I finished the book but I'm excited to read the next installment. There are so many questions and mysteries that require answers and I'm really looking forward to watching these two grow closer as a couple. If you're looking for a historical romance with an erotic edge and you like your book boyfriends bossy, this is definitely one to check out.
