Fact:
Ryan Ashton has never been the hottest girl in the room.
Prim
and proper doesn't really lend itself to sexy, but Ryan's okay with
that. She's come to terms with her perpetual single status. Or at
least she would have, if it weren't for her deliciously gorgeous
boss.
Fact:
Gregg Phillips is sex on a stick.
And
Ryan knows that if she wants him to sit up and take notice of her,
she's gotta take a chance … and ditch the frumpy librarian look
she's been rocking for way too long. It's gonna take a whole new
wardrobe and the help of the local sex kitten to make it happen, but
Ryan's up for it. After all, true love is worth the trouble—and
that's a fact.

MY THOUGHTS
Having previously read the first book in Codi Gary's Rock Canyon series, Things Good Girls Don't Do, I was really excited to read The Trouble with Sexy, the novella that started it all. The story begins just days before Valentine's Day, when Ryan Ashton, a somewhat quiet, conservative dresser asks her boss and long time crush, Gregg if he thinks she's sexy. When he takes a bit too long to answer, Ryan decides she needs to make a change if she ever hopes of having him finally notice her as a woman. With some help from the plain-spoken neighborhood barista, Gracie, Ryan goes on a shopping spree, gets a haircut and finds her inner confidence and spark.
Gregg has had feelings for Ryan for quite a while but never felt like they were returned. But now that her new look and attitude are turning heads all around town—including that of the new resident bad-boy—Gregg decides to go for it and stake his claim. These two friends jump out of the friend-zone and right into love. What could make for a better Valentine's Day?
Friends to Lovers is one of my very favorite romance tropes and this story was just such a fun example. The characters were well written and the rapport between Gracie and Ryan made for some hilarious moments. Every woman needs a girlfriend like Gracie!
In such a short novella we were introduced to so many interesting characters in Rock Canyon and got little glimpses of some possible romances which I can't wait to read more about! It set the stage for the rest of the books in the series while giving you a feel for the town, but without taking away from the adorable romance between these two friends. This is the perfect Valentine's Day read!
