MOTD | Bronze, Berry & Rose

The other day I decided to play around with some new products and returning favorites. After moisturizing my face, I started by applying Dr. Brandt Pores No More Pore Refiner to prime my t-zone. Lately it has been helping keep my face from getting shiny too quickly. I then applied my favorite drugstore foundation, Cover Girl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-In-1 Foundation. It gives great medium coverage, lasts all day on my skin and doesn't turn my face into an oil slick.

To cover up the darkness under my eyes I used the Pixi Correction Concentrate and patted it around my eyes. Somehow this peach color perfectly cancels out dark circles. I topped that with my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and also used it to cover up any blemishes on my face, blending it into the skin with my Real Techniques Setting Brush. To keep my skin matte throughout the day and lock my makeup into place I topped it all off with the Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder.

To contour and define my cheeks, I used a mini version of the NARS Laguna Bronzer which a lovely friend, Violette, recently gave me. I used to have this bronzer about 6 years ago and didn't like it at the time because I thought it was too dark. Now that I'm older and actually know how to contour my face, I know that if I use a gentle hand and blend a ton, it actually works well for me. I also decided to break in my new Revlon Powder Blush in Racy Rose, which I dusted along my cheekbones, blending upwards to narrow my face a bit.

I filled in any spaces in my eyebrows using my absolute favorite brow product, Pixi Natural Brow Duo in Dark Brown. The pencil keeps you from applying too much product and looking like you just drew your brows on and the tinted brow gel keeps your brow hairs in place all day long. I lined my waterline with the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude which instantly brightens my eyes and makes me look more awake. Throughout the day, no matter how much my eyes tear, this stuff stays in place. I patted some of the beloved Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow in Bad to The Bronze onto my eyelids, adding a little bit on my lower lash line, and blending my crease with a small blending brush to keep everything clean and even.

I'm usually incredibly lazy when it comes to eyeliner. I feel like it never comes out even and I never know exactly where to start and stop. Instead, I've taken to tight-lining my eyes, lining just under my upper lashes with my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero to make my lashes look fuller and my dark brown eyes more brown. It sounds a bit scary getting a pencil that close to your eyeball but for me it's so much easier than lining my lids. I topped it all off by curling my eyelashes and applying 2 coats of my favorite mascara: Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Cat Eyes Waterproof Mascara. It holds a curl like nothing else I've tried and makes my lashes look longer and my eyes bigger.

The finishing touch was a shiny, sheered out wash of berry on the lips using Revlon's Color Burst Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie. It was much rosier on my lips than the berry color I expected but it really complemented my rosy blush well. Both the blush and the lip butter were recommended by Lily Pebbles, and boy does she know her Revlon products.

So this is the look I went for, a little bit bronzey, a touch of berry and a hint of rose, but a lot of staying power even in the summer heat. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a good picture of my face with the makeup on but hopefully my future Makeup of the Day posts will feature a picture of the end result. If you have any questions about any of the products I used comment below.
